About Us
J.R. Mackays Diesel & Motor Engineering began its operation in 1946 and has developed into a modern up to date automotive repair facility with specialized machinery for crankshaft grinding, reboring, lineboring, surface grinding, connecting rod resizing, cylinder head re-machining, complete engine rebuilding, assembling and dynometer testing.
Our expertise and workmanship on the engines are transferred to new artisans and our company has also been acknowledged as an accredited training facility by Marseta since 2000. Ongoing training with our qualified automotive machinists and assemblers in various fields on different types of engines.
We continually strive to have a safe working environment for our employees as per the Occupational, Health & Safety Act 1993 through continuous baseline risk assessments and improvements.
J.R Mackays has been awarded a BBBEE level 4 in the generic enterprise score rating as per reference to the DTI Codes of Good Practice Gazetted 2013.
We repair and recondition engines such as VOLVO, ADE, Ford, Lister, Perkins, John Deere, Toyota Truck, Fiat, New Holland and Nissan Diesel.
We rebuild and dyno test all makes of engines – mechanical or electronic. We have a EXPLOLAB – SANS 868-1-1:2018 permit to apply certification mark on flameproof engines in fiery mines. We have also acquired our DEKRA ISO 9001:2015 certification for the reconditioning of diesel and motor combustion engines.
Our banking partner is Standard Bank since 1948.
We have a fairly large workshop with 120 employees and an average of 24 years of services with us, ensuring you TOP Quality Workmanship.
Our guarantee for complete rebuilding of engines are 12 month or 1000 hours.
